The more research I do about search engine optimization (SEO) the more confused I get. These days it seems everyone has an opinion on what the best SEO tactics are. Ask 10 different SEO or SEM experts the same question and you are likely to get 10 different responses. That was until I discovered Dallas search engine optimization. This organization prides itself in offering seasoned web consulting services to allow your website to reach its full potential.
Most SEO companies tend to offer short term solutions but rarely do they think about the long term objectives of a client’s website. Buying some links will see an increase in page rank and search result listings, but how long will it last? You need a company that is willing to work with you to provide a long-term vision and offer you a website that looks impressive, performs flawlessly and most of all receives high traffic and in turn higher bottom line.
Although this company is based out of Dallas, they provide worldwide SEO services to all kinds of online businesses. From start-ups to seasoned sites that need more oomph in their business, the qualified professionals at PurposeWeb have the SEO knowledge and experience you are looking for.

Mugi Pacco has launched a new directory - Web Directory Seven. Business categories appear to be filling up fast - got to wonder how he’s doing that. Must have more than a couple editors.
It’s an awesome design - web design by none other than V7.

My friend in the office, Jeff, was freaking out last night as his favorite website was downed by a hacker, with the handle of The Masked Bandit. But Jeff loves a challenge, and since he has an online programming degree in his arsenal he set out to track down the Masked bandit’s identity and set things straight.
Officially our office closes at six, but after the security and cleaning folks had gone home for the night Jeff and I snuck back in and booted up the master computer. An eerie blue glow plastered Jeff’s face like a performer in that Quebecois circus Cirque du Soleil.
Suddenly a bolt of lightening flashed across the sky. Jeff keyed in his entry code. I grabbed a seltzer from the staff fridge. I realized I missed my family. It grew tense.
The pimpled forehead of the aging Masked Bandit slowly rose up on the screen in front of us. Strange how he chooses to reveal his scarred forehead while covering his eyes with a black bandana I thought. Of course he had fashioned eyeholes in the bandana, and his googly shark eyes bored into us as Jeff punched up the audio and we heard him speak.
“Earthlings, you feeble efforts belie your inner weakness and lack of fashion sense. Do not believe you can capture me. I am the Masked Bandit!” said the Bandit. The voice was somehow familiar.
But Jeff was on it! With 3 deft keystrokes he had located the Bandit’s home address.
333 Dustymeadow Rd – our office address. My game was up.

One of the biggest questions facing new website owners is ‘how do I increase targeted visitors to my website’? I thought I would take some time to explain in very simple terms how I increased the targeted visitors to my website from around 2,000 a month to approximately 20,000 unique visitors. Most of these techniques are very simple to put in place and just might help you increase your numbers. Let’s face it; if you’re serious about building an e-commerce business, then the first thing you are going to need is targeted visitors coming to your site.

Like most small businesses online businesses too have the potential for failure if they are not fully researched and planned out prior to entering the market place. Guy Kawasaki is amongst the most respected professionals in both the internet marketing and technology worlds. He was one of the first Apple employees, and was largely responsible for marketing the Macintosh way back in 1984. He is often noted for bringing the concept of evangelism to the technology business sector, and while at Apple, he focused on creating passionate user-advocates for the Apple brand. Clearly, it worked. Apple still has one of the most loyal user bases in the tech sector.
Guy Kawasaki has written a number of books on the subject of marketing, including:
- The Art of the Start (2004)
- Rules for Revolutionaries (2000)
- How to Drive Your Competition Crazy (1995)
- Hindsights (1995)
- The Computer Cumudgeon (1993)
- Selling the Dream (1992)
- Database 101 (1991)
- The Macintosh Way (1990)
He has a blog, which is updated almost daily at blog.guykawasaki.com, and features the latest marketing news and commentary. Currently, he is the managing director of Garage Technology Ventures, which is an early-stage venture capital firm. He’s also a columnist for Entrepreneur Magazine, and is very well-educated, having received a BA from Stanford University, an MBA from UCLA, and an honorary doctorate from Babson College.
Check out his blog and maybe even pick up one (or two, or three!) of his books. This guy really knows his stuff, and we could all stand to learn a little something from him. Afterall, he’s a marketing genius.

The web has lots of crappy web directories that are here one day and gone the next. There are also a number of good, quality directories that do stick around and provide exceptional services to their customers. If you’ve got the notion of starting up your own web directory, I’d hope that you plan to invest a lot of time and money into making it a successful venture.
One of the first things you’ll need to do before you start your directory, after purchasing your domain and setting up hosting, is figuring out what kind of directory script you want to use. Do you want a free script or a paid script? Are you interested in PHP directory scripts, or something more compatible with a Windows-based server? Deciding this is of the utmost importance because once you’ve gotten going, switching over to another platform will be real pain.
Free directory scrips can work out just great, depending on your needs. If you need more advanced options and support, then you may want to seriously consider buying a paid script with the options that you need. But before you go out and buy one, check to make sure what kind of server you’ve got with your host to make sure it will be compatible with PHP, ASP, or whatever scripting language you end up using.

Previously I mentioned the importance of submitting your websites to quality web directories, such as the Umdum Web Directory. Another such quality directory that should be at the top of everyone’s list of “must submit to” sites is the V7 Directory.
The V7 Directory is recognized through the SEO and webmaster industries as one of the leading web directories. It features human editors that review each and every submission to ensure that quality guidelines are met, and has as nice, unique directory structure. The PageRank of the main index is a 6, while many of the sub-pages, such as the Shopping Directory at V7N, are at least a 5. All links are kept to one page, and you’ll never have to worry about getting stuck on a second page. The V7 Directory also has something that a lot of other web directories does not - search traffic. Because of the carefully placed V7 Directory search boxes around the web, the directory actually gets real human traffic. So not only will you benefit from the quality linkage, but you might even get some actual human visitors to your site from the V7 Directory.
Another point of interest is the V7 Directory’s Partner program which pays you for each and every completed referral to the directory. All you have to do is sign up for the program and put a banner or link on your site with your referral ID, and when someone clicks to the directory and purchases a listing, you’ll get some cash.
