The more research I do about search engine optimization (SEO) the more confused I get. These days it seems everyone has an opinion on what the best SEO tactics are. Ask 10 different SEO or SEM experts the same question and you are likely to get 10 different responses. That was until I discovered Dallas search engine optimization. This organization prides itself in offering seasoned web consulting services to allow your website to reach its full potential.
Most SEO companies tend to offer short term solutions but rarely do they think about the long term objectives of a client’s website. Buying some links will see an increase in page rank and search result listings, but how long will it last? You need a company that is willing to work with you to provide a long-term vision and offer you a website that looks impressive, performs flawlessly and most of all receives high traffic and in turn higher bottom line.
Although this company is based out of Dallas, they provide worldwide SEO services to all kinds of online businesses. From start-ups to seasoned sites that need more oomph in their business, the qualified professionals at PurposeWeb have the SEO knowledge and experience you are looking for.

Guy Kawasaki is amongst the most respected professionals in both the internet marketing and technology worlds. He was one of the first Apple employees, and was largely responsible for marketing the Macintosh way back in 1984. He is often noted for bringing the concept of evangelism to the technology business sector, and while at Apple, he focused on creating passionate user-advocates for the Apple brand. Clearly, it worked. Apple still has one of the most loyal user bases in the tech sector.
Guy Kawasaki has written a number of books on the subject of marketing, including:
- The Art of the Start (2004)
- Rules for Revolutionaries (2000)
- How to Drive Your Competition Crazy (1995)
- Hindsights (1995)
- The Computer Cumudgeon (1993)
- Selling the Dream (1992)
- Database 101 (1991)
- The Macintosh Way (1990)
He has a blog, which is updated almost daily at blog.guykawasaki.com, and features the latest marketing news and commentary. Currently, he is the managing director of Garage Technology Ventures, which is an early-stage venture capital firm. He’s also a columnist for Entrepreneur Magazine, and is very well-educated, having received a BA from Stanford University, an MBA from UCLA, and an honorary doctorate from Babson College.
Check out his blog and maybe even pick up one (or two, or three!) of his books. This guy really knows his stuff, and we could all stand to learn a little something from him. Afterall, he’s a marketing genius.

Aaron Wall perhaps best known in the SEO world for his SEO blog SEOBook.com. As the name of the site suggests, yes, there is an actual SEO Book. However, it’s actually actually something that is constantly being updated and revised, and includes all of the information presented on the blog in a book format. So why buy the actual book? Well, for one, the book format is much easier to navigate and study, and because it is constantly being updated, you’re able to get the new updates for free once you’ve purchased it initially. Aaron Wall’s SEO Book is perhaps one of the best resources to learn about the constantly evolving field of search engine optimization.
SEOBook isn’t the only thing keeping Aaron Wall busy, he’s also acquired the Threadwatch community which focuses on the latest search news and speculation. He’s also got his own search engine project - Myriad Search Engine, and has been mentioned in world-class publications including the Wall Street Journal, The London Times, BusinessWeek, and others. He also does consultancy on a limited basis.
Aaron Wall’s SEO Book has been used as course text for MBA classes, which is pretty cool, and he’s spoken at numerous industry conferences. If you frequent SEO forums and communities, you might also catch Aaron joining in from time to time. Only in his late 20’s, Aaron’s already made a name for himself and the future looks very bright for him.

Peter Da Vanzo is a leading search marketing strategist and commentator based out of Wellington, New Zealand. He is currently doing a writing stint at the V7N SEO Blog, but first achieved success with his own very popular SearchEngineBlog website. Peter’s writings are not only highly informative and insightful, but they’re also entertaining and easy to read. He’s got a great style, and it’s no wonder that he’s brought both SearchEngineBlog and the V7 SEO Blog large followings.
Peter Da Vanzo, however, is not just a commentator and casual observer. He also runs an independent consultancy (GoFish Media Ltd.), and knows firsthand the workings of the industry. Having experience in the field gives Peter an edge in that he actually knows what he’s talking about really, really well. What I’d suggest is that you read this interesting interview John Scott did with Peter Da Vanzo, and then head on over to the V7 SEO Blog for some great reading.

Bob Massa first got into the internet business back in the mid-1990’s, and since then has made himself a name in the SEO world as one of the industry’s leading experts. Bob Massa has spoken at numerous industry conferences around the world, including SEOroadshow, the Internet Marketing Conference, and many others.
Massa first gained international noteriety when he took on Big G, aka Google, back in 2002 when they lowered the PageRank on his SearchKing website. Massa accused Google of intentionally and manually altering the results for SearchKing in order to harm his business. Although he did not win the lawsuit, the attention gained by taking on the search giant brought in more sales than ever. The lawsuit shed some light on Massa’s company and what they did, and people were interested.
Bob Massa has helped numerous other SEOers learn the basics of the industry, and has gone out of his way to share his knowledge with the masses. In fact, the V7 Network even hosts one such piece of educational material entitled “The Basic Concepts of SEO” by Bob Massa. It’s a few years old, but a good portion of it still holds true today. V7’s John Scott also did a nice interview with Bob Massa. If you’re interested in learning more about Bob Massa, his work, and his thoughts on search engine marketing, check out his website at bobmassa.com.

If you’re in the SEO business and you don’t yet know who Danny Sullivan is, then you’re either a complete newbie or living in some kind of fantasy world. Danny Sullivan is, for all intensive purposes, the godfather of search engine optimization, having been in the business long before SEO became mainstream.
In 1995, after having helped a friend get his website “seen” by the search engines, Danny took the knowledge that he gained and began further investigating how search engines worked. The results of his studies were published online as “A Webmaster’s Guide to Search Engines”. The results received such a positive reaction that Danny decided to expand on the guide and create an entire website dedicated to the topic. Thus was the birth of Search Engine Watch in 1996.
In his years at SEW, Danny saw a great deal of success, having been featured in reknowned publications such as the Wall Street Journal, Forbes, New York Times, and others. In the late 1990’s, Sullivan sold Search Engine Watch to MecklerMedia (now Jupiter Media) for an undisclosed sum. He stayed on with SEW as editor-in-chief until 2006. SEW watch was recently sold by JupiterMedia to Incisive Media for $43 million dollars.
Not only did the website achieve a great amount of success, but Search Engine Watch also began conducting a series of trade shows dubbed “Search Engine Strategies”, or SES for short. Thousands of SEO & SEM professionals, executives, and other top businessmen attend the trade shows each year, paying upwards of $2,000 to attend. The conference has also gained major corporate sponsorships and exhibitions, which start at about $5,000.
Danny Sullivan left Search Engine Watch in late 2006, and at the SES Chicago show rumors of his plans for the future began to emerge. Danny wasn’t getting out of the business altogether, he was just going to start up a new site and business by the name of Search Engine Land.
Search Engine Land has been for only a short period of time, but because of Danny’s reputation as a search leader, it has already gained a huge following. Search Engine Land is also set to have their first conference this summer - Search Marketing Expo - in Seattle, WA on June 4-5. For Danny Sullivan, the future looks very bright.

Jakob Nielsen holds a Ph.D from the University of Denmark in Copenhagen, and undisputedly the world’s foremost expert on website usability. He is a User Advocate, and co-founder with Donald A. Norman of the Nielsen Norman Group. Through 1998, Nielsen was a Sun Microsystems Distinguished Engineer.
Nielsen is often credited with founding the discount usability engineering movement, which advocated fast and cheap improvement of user interfaces. He has also invested several usability methods, including heuristic evaluation. His work is not just studying and coming up with theories; he also holds 79 US patents, which focus mainly on ways of making the internet easier for us to use.
He also has some advice for SEO professionals regarding the use of language on their sites. He says that simple English is good SEO practice:
It’s tempting to coin new terms because you can own the positioning if the term catches on. But, more likely, people will continue to use their old terminology. It’s long been a usability guideline to avoid made-up words in navigation menus, because users scan them for words they know. In full-text content, you can include new words for effect, but make sure to supplement them with legacy words – that is, words that your customers know and use in everyday business practice.
Dr. Nielsen has other great words of wisdom for the SEO world, and everyone else, to listen to. Check out this awesome interview Jakob Nielsen did with John Scott to learn more advice on how to make your website more usable and SEO-friendly.
