Five Internet Marketing Tips
One of the biggest questions facing new website owners is ‘how do I increase targeted visitors to my website’? I thought I would take some time to explain in very simple terms how I increased the targeted visitors to my website from around 2,000 a month to approximately 20,000 unique visitors. Most of these techniques are very simple to put in place and just might help you increase your numbers. Let’s face it; if you’re serious about building an e-commerce business, then the first thing you are going to need is targeted visitors coming to your site.
Firstly, you will notice that I have used the words ‘targeted visitors’ quite a few times. I did this to bring home the fact that you are not just looking for visitors to your site, but in fact visitors who are actually interested in your site’s topic and who are more likely to benefit and walk away with something useful. This is the first point to remember when creating a successful website.
Now, on to my five main sources of targeted traffic to my website –
1. Search Engine Optimization – SEO should be your primary goal. The main sources of traffic to my site still come from the search engines. Google, Yahoo and MSN provide the largest numbers. It is therefore crucial that you optimize your site for the search engines. Remember this all boils down to links and if in doubt, employ the services of an SEO expert to help you. You will be amazed at the increase of traffic after doing this.
2. E-magazines – Creating a large opt-in list or subscribers to an ezine is another method to bring traffic to your site. Develop an ezine that is specific to your site. Offer people something they haven’t read before. If you offer good content, your ezine will be recommended by your readers to other readers and so on.
3. Viral Marketing – Another way to attract targeted visitors is to offer them a free product or service. These can include eBooks or reports that have links back to your site. Even things like simple software such as a downloadable calendar with a link back to your site can be very effective.
4. RSS – One of the most effective sources of traffic to my site has to be my blogs and RSS feeds. I have created numerous blogs and feeds specific to the topics of my site. Along as it’s relevant to your site, you’ll see a large increase in visitors.
5. Articles – This source cannot be discarded. Article marketing has been one of the major driving forces in the increase of numbers to my site. Having your articles published in ezines and on various sites generates an enormous amount of traffic. The trick is to write helpful how-to articles on current topics that will empower your readers to achieve there goals which will in turn boost your link popularity dramatically and increase your rankings. Make sure you choose the right keywords to target in your articles so that they tie back to the content on your site.
Whilst there are many other sources of traffic I could discuss, it seems pointless as they certainly don’t offer the same amount of numbers as the five listed above.
