There are so many ways to promote a web site now. Its crazy. With all the hype about getting your links from the right places and whether or not a site that was linking to you got penalized by Google or not is just ridiculous. Promoting a site needs to be about offering value and uniqueness that people are willing to choice you over the next one in line. Because the line is growing and there are many more people doing what you are doing everyday now. The secret is to do it uniquely and with more value. I am a big fan of unique web page designs. I think a site that is pretty similar to another site but has an unique design is going to get my business. I start a lot of sites from scratch and I use a certain Small Business Web Design Company with benefits that include proven navigation, good colors, efficient layout, and quick turnaround. Your web site depends on the company who designs it. Choose a company that offers a lot of testimonials and portfolio pictures.
The main reason for uniqueness is the growing number of copied and free use templates on the internet now. Keeping yourself distanced from the pack of ordinaries is more important than ever. Get a few ideas together about what you need and consult with a Web Design Company soon. You will start to see the benefits very quickly with increased traffic and people who stay on your pages longer. People want something that appeals to them visually as well as functionally.

I am tired of these free directories asking me to submit and then just deleting my submission because I didn’t pay a fee. Why call yourself free if you are going to charge at the end? I know of a lot of people who try these types of places to get a free link. But I think they are wasting their time. I think they believe that this link from a PR1 site is going to help them rank better in Search Engines or get a higher page rank themselves. These people need to look further than what is free to search for something valuable. I know of places that charge money to review their site and actually place it in a PR4 directory. This is called a quality directory, yes they exist, and they are hard to find. A directory that gives you a strong link is a great place to build your web site reputation and search engine relevancy from.
A strong link is definitely an asset. How do people think they can get them for free these days? When you are serious about your own web reputation, you search for others who believe in their own web reputation. Because if a directory links to a crappy site, they get pulled down to their level too. Its not a free link, its an approval of the site too. A directory needs to be able to approve a site, not just be sponsored by it. Money can buy certain things, but a good directory knows when to reject a submission in order to maintain its own web reputation. Think about that when you are looking for a strong link these days, don’t be afraid to invest in your links.

My partner in blogging, Steve Oliver, called me the other day to announce he is quitting the SEO game. He’s fed up spending half his life chained to a computer terminal, he says. He’s planning a long trip to Canada’s Algonquin National Park as a way to distress and rethink his career goals. I was distressed to hear of his intended departure, but I sympathize. It’s a rough game; it ain’t for everybody, that’s for sure.
The fact of the matter is though, I firmly believe at least – that if you want to achieve results with your blogs you have to stick at it for the long term. To paraphrase Donald Rumsfeld, link-building is a “long, hard slog.” If you’re in it, I suggest you stay in it to win it. After five years doing this myself, it is only now that I’m seeing some pleasing exponential growth.
I think one reason as well is my decision to enlist Web Directory 7 as my newest web directory partner. They’ve got a really sharp staff running the show over there, and I’ve clearly benefited from them by obtaining some excellent links to quality websites. Sadly, I signed up with Web Directory 7 after Steve cashed in his chips with our venture, so he wasn’t able to share much in our new found growth. It’s a rough game, as I said.

Since the conviction and sentencing of twenty-two year-old “Spam King” Darren Edwards last month, the Internet has been veritably spam-free. Internet cop Roy Balahoy declared “a sweeping moral and technological victory” after Edwards was led in orange jumpsuit and leg irons to begin his one hundred year sentence in San Francisco’s notorious Alcatraz island prison. “Ladies and gentlemen, we got ‘im,” beamed Balahoy at the time.
But in an often unpredictable world, since seeing the disappearance of “erectile dysfunction” and “tighter, smoother abs” ads from their inboxes, more and more Americans are longing for the days when they could meet co-workers by the office water cooler and bitch for hours about the troublesome spam.
“To tell you the truth, I liked going through the whole slew of four hundred to five hundred spam e-mails that clogged up my inbox every morning,” said Todd Hefgrew, an average thirty-something office employee at Glaxo Chemical. “It was cathartic; I felt that as I deleted each individual spam e-mail, I was fighting crime, and making the world a better place by doing it,” lamented Mr. Hefgrew. “Plus, I was getting paid for the time it took me to do it, which was awesome,” he added.

1. Build a search engine friendly website without session ID’s that a search engine spider can crawl.
2. Add link-worthy content that compels users to link to you. Useful content not available elsewhere on the Internet.
3. Hire a professional search engine optimization firm that has resources that you don’t have.
4. Use keywords that your target audience is likely to use. For example, people who want to buy “The Closing of the American Mind” by Allan Bloom are not going to be searching for “book” or “books”. They will most likely use the book title or the author name as a search term.
5. Spend money. You have to spend it to make it, and advertising proves to the customer that you are serious about your business.

50. To reward yourself for a small success at the office, you decide to enjoy an extra cup of coffee on your way home at a famous coffeehouse.
49. To thank you for your purchase, the baristas give you a thick book of complimentary discount coupons.
48. You feel a bit guilty for liking it, but the Bob Marley/ John Lennon Christmas Songs CD they’re playing sounds pretty good.
47. The next day when you go back to the coffeehouse, you impulsively buy the Bob Marley/John Lennon Christmas Songs CD. Sure it’s July now, but good music is good music.
46. You could swear that cute barista with the purple dreadlock smiled at you!
45. You make it a habit to sit at the same table every day. You notice it has abstract poetry engraved on it. It’s intriguing.
44. You decide to become a poet.
43. You purchase a titanium coffee mug with the famous coffeehouse’s logo on it. You take generous swigs of it to fuel your poetic muse.
42. The baristas now know you by name.
41. You have so much energy! You feel just like Columbian cocaine baron Pablo Escobar must feel, down there in Columbia, tending his cocoa beans. And for only $2.62! Is this a great country, or what?!
40. You’re the only person who’s doing any real work around the office.

Two websites are all I have now, but getting them into the spotlight is quite a lot of work. I spend time writing articles to link back to my sites. I spend time replying to people’s blogs so they will link back to my site as well as come read my blog and hopefully comment too. I know of many ways that these link building strategies work. But they take a lot of time for the novice link builder. I want to try using some link building experts to get my pages up in PageRank as well as more visitors. I want better results on my webpages this time.
I have a few places to try and find a link building expert, but I want to try a low-cost method first. Maybe a smaller link building operation will give me what I am looking for. My goal is to have at least 50 new links per month. I have been able to get only 20 by the way I have been going thus far.
I write artices, I post on other people’s blogs, I start link building contests, I even made some myspace accounts to build links by. I also made a Squidoo page and some facebook pages too. I am currently trying more social networking and getting people interesting in learning about my pages. I think that people are the best link builders because they will give more links if they find your site useful.

So it’s that time of year again. Just yesterday I put up the Christmas tree.
One question that a lot of people are asking is, “got any good Christmas gift ideas?” Well, as a matter of fact, yes I do!
For my kids, I bought each a laptop, a Toshiba Satellite A215-S7437 15.4″ Notebook PC (AMD Turion 64 X2 Dual Core Processor TL-58, 2 GB RAM, 200 GB Hard Drive, Vista Premium). These are relatively nice PC’s, and they cost only $730.
Now you may think, “ain’t that a bit much for a Christmas gift?” No, it ain’t. Because if you think about it, what do you really want in a Christmas gift? You want one that keeps giving. And how many Christmas gifts get used every day of the week, 365 days a year? Yup. It’s a bargain. Now, if you really want to be smart, buy them on your credit card, and you’ll get frequent flier miles. And buy them from Amazon.com using your own affiliate link, and you get a percentage back.
Another great Christmas gift is a book. Don’t have any smart friends? Then why not make your dumb friends smart? Say, with a book like Dinesh D’Souza’s What’s So Great About America.

The Internet has stupendous potential for advancement of society.
Yeah, I know, you’ve just been over at YouTube reading the comments where people with the maturity level of 12 years olds are calling each other names and threatening to kill, behead, bomb and/or slaughter each other. My statement that the Internet has potential may seem monumentally oblivious.
It isn’t.
The Internet has its faults. It has predators, propagandists, liars, cheats, Nigerians and spammers.
But it also has information. Readily available and free information.
In the past, it was relatively easy to maintain one’s ignorance. All you had to do was not buy books, not subscribe to any newspapers, not watch the nightly news, and spend the money you saved on much more enjoyable activities, like drinking beer.
On the Internet, however, you can’t take click on anything without being accosted with information. Iraq did this. Iran did that. Bush is the anti-Christ. That guy chopping off that lady’s head, he’s actually a noble “Freedom Fighter”.
Okay, bad examples. But there are also a plethora of legitimately insightful opinions, validated facts, and education to be had, absolutely free of charge.
The Internet has helped to educate voters about the positions held by candidates for public office.
The Internet has helped to educate the world to the plight of Aung San Suu Kyi.
The spread of knowledge on the Internet has helped highlight injustices and brought more public pressure to bear than could be imaginable otherwise.
One common myth is that the unborn child isn’t human. As if the child changed species suddenly at birth. (More on the abortion debate.)
The Internet has the power to dispel this myth, so that more intelligent and honest debate can take place.
So, will it happen? Or will the the propagandists dominate?
Only time will tell.

Why can’t I get my favorite keyword to rank? I don’t know why its so tough. The reason it is so tough is because everyone wants to rank #1 for it and they can pay more than I can to get there. I think its unfair to rely on that method, but big social networks can tip the balance in favor of the deep pocket advertisers.
When I want to rank for a keyword, I ask a friend from the UK. He is an SEO Exeter master. He works out of his home but he is very skilled and profitable at it. I think he knows how to rank for anything.
I talked to him friday about ranking my name in the search engines and monday he got it done. That’s fast and skillful. I think I will take him out to lunch.
